A is for Amaya, Knightsbridge
I am not surprised this restaurant has received so many awards. I had to visit as it has such a great reputation and it is worth it! Fanastic food, great service and beautiful decor. We looked being able to watch the chefs cook from the open kitchen and the food really was delicious. A great place for a special night out.
B is for Busabong Too, Earls Court
We really had a nice evening at Busabong Too. Mini C. has done an excellent job and we have been more then satisfied. We took a friend to Busabong Too after finding the recommendations about it. Little did we know that the guy had lived and workedin Thailand for two years! His view, "As good as anything he had eaten in Thailand ".
C is for Cookes Pie And Mash Shop, Goldhawk Road
A traditional eel, pie and mash shop in Shepherds Bush. Join the queues at the weekend during the market hours.
D is for Daphne's, South Kensington
Very intimate restaurant excellent service and staff are extremely friendly. A fantastic experience overall definitely worth repeat visits.
E is for El Chico's Mexican Cantina Cafe and Cocktail Bar, Tooting
This place is simply amazing. It reminds me of Sticky Fingers in High Street Kensington - although not the same food, it has an informal, relaxed atmosphere about it - until the music and alcohol from the numerous cocktails kick in, where it gets to be all about having fun!
The food comes in large portions, well presented and is just soo comforting!!!
F is for Fish Central, Old Street
Why not splash out on sea bass, chips and a bottle of Chablis? Or you can stick to the basics with haddock, chips and mushy peas for around £5.50 in smart, modern surroundings.
G is for Geales, Notting Hill Gate
The menu here strays from the normal chippy fayre, and is imaginative and tasty. Chilled corgette and dill soup, or skate with capers in black butter sauce are served along side more a traditional plaice fillet and chips (for £8.50), although you have to pay extra for tartare sauce (50p).
H is for Harrington's, Tooting Broadway
The decor may be faded and the tiles cracked, but this pie and mash shop still serves up the goods. Eels and mash with liquor (parsley sauce) costs £2.75, pie and mash costs £1.75.
I is for Imli, Tottenham Court Road
A very nice meal last week. Food was different and the tapas idea worked well. Great for sharing with friends. Lighting is a bit bright so better to sit at the back. Very friendly staff who helped us with the menu. Would defiantly suggest you try this one.
J is for Jakarta Restaurant, Colindale
What a lovely place to enjoy a lunch or a dinner!!! The food is SO well presented it's almost a pity to serve it up. But you'll be glad you did, the food tastes wonderful, truly. It's a small place with great artifacts on the walls and anywhere else they can be squeezed in! The staff are always very friendly and polite - they can't do enough for you!
K is for Khana Indian Restaurant, Kilburn
This is a great little restaurant with some of the best indian food I've eaten and a variety of interesting specialities from north India and Nepal. The service is extremely friendly if not quite as efficient. The portion sizes are a little on the small side but prices are good value.
The restaurant itself is small and cosy, although it lacks some atmosphere. Overall, a great place for a nice meal if the budget is tight.
L is for Le Gavroche, Marble Arch
A 2001 Moet and Chandon London Restaurant Award Winner for best service in the front of house and the Academy Award for excellence.
Dishes include millefeuille de moules et epinards (mussels in a mild curry), tian de crabe a la Macedoine et sauce gazpacho (fresh crab in gazpacho sauce), entrecote d'Angus poelee au Roquefort (steak covered in Roquefort cheese). You may then wish to see the cheese board which has over 40 cheeses to choose from. It is true the service and food here are second to none, but it is at a price. There is a minimum charge per head of £60 which can easily turn into £90-100 without any trouble.
M is for Michael Moore, Baker Street
Warm intimate restaurant away from busy Oxford Street. The menu features dishes from across the globe. Expect to pay around £30 per person including drinks.
N is for Nettouno Pizzeria Cafe Bar, Elephant & Castle
This restaurant suffers in comparison to the Pizzeria Castello across the road, and its seventies decor is quite unsettling. The food, on the other hand, is superb. The freshly made pizzas have a lot of flavour and tons of topping, and don't dent the wallet excessively. Certainly worth a visit, if you don't mind the plastic palms.
O is for Orrery, Regents Park
Winner of the 2000 Moet & Chandon London Restaurant Award for the most outstanding front of house. Not a reason to eat there just on its own I'm sure you will agree, however this stylish Conran restaurant also serves up the goods. Also, a winner of the 2003 and 2005 LondonEats.com restaurant awards.
P is for Ping Pong, Oxford Circus
Ping Pong has a good variety of fantastically fresh and very tasty food that's well presented. The service is friendly, quick and competent and the atmosphere feels modern and vibrant. It is a quality restaurant that I will defintely return to and I can confidently recommend it to others.
Q is for Quaglino's Restaurant, Green Park
A modern restaurant of 'glamour and entertainment', Quaglino's offers modern European style cuisine. Expect to pay around £35 for dinner per person.Private dining : 40 seated/ 60 standing. On the mezzanine level, overlooking the theatre of the restaurant.
R is for River Cafe, Putney Bridge
The traditional cafe has the original wall tiles and murals from the 1960s. Great service and extensive cafe menu. Not to be confused with the River Cafe Italian Restaurant in Hammersmith
S is for Shikara, South Kensington
Best Karahi Gosht I've ever had in London. reasonable decor with well priced menu cater for everyone! The menu is eclectic with a broad range of Indian cuisines. Although I suspect this is another Bengali enterprise serving Indian food, what it lacks in authenticity it more than makes up for it in moreishness. The vegetarian food is extremely good, the aloo gobi was sublime (the muter paneer was a little lacking in spice). The tikka/ tandoori options were very good but the main courses were better: the laal maas (red chilli lamb) and biryani must be sampled.
T is for Thai Square, Putney Bridge
We went to this restaurant and sitting outside looking at the river it is a beautiful setting. Food was great and good value.
U is for Upstairs Restaurant, Embankment
The most informal of The Savoy's restaurants, the brasserie style Upstairs Restaurant overlooks the bustling hotel entrance. The menu features light and healthy contemporary dishes with emphasis on fresh seafood. Expect to pay up to £45 for 3 courses per person.

The menu changes throughout the day and night at this 24-7 bistro. With breakfasts being served all day. Expect to pay around £22 for 2 courses and drinks. A bottle of house wine costs £10.
W is for Willie Gunn, Earlsfield
One of the finest establishments on the side of the thames. I would have no worries about recommending this restaurant to anyone. It really would suit all. In my experience the service is always first class, isgood value for money, menu isvaried and the food is superb! I have been visiting Willie Gunns since it has opened and it is my belief that it has got better and better over the period.
X is for XX-XXVIII, Great Portland Street Line
The Grange Fitzrovia Hotel houses this French restaurant, reasonable priced, just try it and see for yourself.
Y is for Yazu Sushi, Green Park
Yazu Sushi offers exceptional quality freshly prepared sushi served in a small conveyor belt bar environment. Expect to pay around £25 per person for dinner or £15 for lunch. Fanastically fresh sushi and sashimi, everything made by hand unlike the other places I have been to in London. A great kaiten restaurant.
Z is for Zen Central Restaurant, Green Park
The waiting staff were attentive when we first arrived, I chose the 1/4 portion of crispy duck. The portion was generous, well presented and prepared, and most importantly, tasted good and the pudding was a form of almond flavoured white jelly, topped with fresh fruit was a refreshing and healthy alternative to more stodgy puddings. Zen will be a great place to experience, not just eat.
